Sofia Lois Monroe is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning content producer, mentor, and serial "Philanthropreneur" with over 17 years of experience in film, television, digital media, and business development. Her work spans executive producing, directing, line producing, and content strategy, alongside a deep commitment to social causes and mentorship. Sofia’s journey began at a young age as a peer youth mentor, helping children involved in her parents' drug and alcohol case management program. Initially pursuing Pre-Med with aspirations of becoming a doctor, she soon realized her passion lay in helping people through storytelling and media. This shift led her to the production world in Los Angeles, where she learned to combined her talents in content creation with her drive to make a meaningful social impact.
Monroe's freelance and company experience includes producing viral content while working for a former company known as Defy Media, travel videos, Emmy-nominated content, Lionsgate original comedy content, six micro-budget independent feature films (budgeted from $5,000 to $150,000) distributed both domestically and internationally (Walmart, Best Buy, NBC Universal, Hulu, Redbox, Itunes.com, Amazon Prime Video) , as well as award-winning short films. She has produced for federally funded contracts and programs, red carpet live streams, and experimental branded social media content. Additionally, Sofia has co-produced projects like "The Cleaners" featuring Mike Epps.
Her vast experience also extends into large-scale event production, having worked in various departments for over 40 show productions and award shows over a span of more than 10 years, including multiple Grammys, People’s Choice Awards, BET Awards, and the MTV Movie Awards. In 2015, Sofia founded Daymaker Productions, an independent company that merges storytelling with philanthropy.
Based in Las Vegas, Daymaker Productions develops award-winning content for brands like Doritos, Pepsi, and Caesars Palace, while also launching community programs that support youth, underserved groups, and non-profits. The company’s mission is to produce content that not only entertains but also promotes social good, helping to tell intergenerational stories that uplift, empower, and educate.
Throughout her career, Sofia has been actively involved in various facets of economic development and projects for beta and startup ecosystems. She has contributed her knowledge to boards and committees, including Catalyststories.org and its mentorship program. Her initiative to introduce a sports category at Catalyst speaks to her belief in the power of storytelling across all sectors, including sports. This sports category was the first of its kind, inspiring other festivals to adopt the concept. Sofia's collaborative efforts also include enhancing and restructuring affordable housing and wealth creation programs through Nevada Partners. She played a key role in the establishment of Promise Startups and introduced the concept of a community center, further demonstrating her passion for community improvement and empowerment.
